The long and winding road to get here…

I have been contemplating starting a blog for a while, but the same questions kept popping up in my head every time I started to look into it. Would I really have the time to keep up with it? Is anyone going to actually want to read anything I have to say? What on earth am I actually going to say? This constant rotation of thoughts kept me away for a while…

I had dabbled with the idea of starting a fitness blog, years ago…ended up starting one too…only to let it fall through the cracks. I had gotten a job right out of college, but it was a contracting position and the situation was that you could only be at this particular client for 2 years before moving on…when my time was up, I had a 6 month block of time where I was no longer working a 9-5, so I started studying to get my group fitness certification. I became incredibly interested in fitness, healthy eating and the works, out of college because let’s face it, that’s not usually the time in our lives when we look our best. So I started to run, and the more I ran, the more I liked it; the more I liked running, the more conscious I became about my eating habits…and so on.
This journey I had begun has now turned into a lifestyle, one that I have had friends and family ask about over the years…which is why starting a blog about it became something I wanted to do…but then I got my job back, a more permanent one and all of that was put on the back burner.

Fast forward a few years…I became a mother for the first time 😊 and the post partum journey to my pre-mommy body was no “easy-run-day”. The idea of writing about this part of my life started to creep back into my head…but then motherhood took over and remembering to feed myself became somewhat of a difficult task. Blogging dreams put on the back burner again.

Another year goes by. We moved to a bigger house and hubby started to build things. ALL the things; he built end tables, tables for storage, a work-bench (with built in saws and all!), a dining room table, a deck, a raised garden, an arbor, a barn door, tables with sliding barn doors, 2 new pantries, part of our basement…and the list goes on! The furniture was beautiful, the projects inspired…and it inspired me!!! I wanted to put his designs and ideas out for everyone to see, to become inspired by, to buy, to DIY!! Then baby #2 came along in the middle of a pandemic.

Once again, my time went out the window and all hopes of doing anything but feeding 3 people, and myself were gone.

But here I am again, actually putting something down in writing before it completely leaves my head. Do I have more time now? No. I have less, actually.

I have a 5 month old, an almost 3 year old, a full time job while taking on the full time job of nursing and mom-ing. I have no time. But it also just feels there there is no better time to be starting this.

So what is my plan, where am I going with this? I have so many ideas, that I have no idea. So I figured I would just, start. I want to share my fitness journeys, my mom-ing triumphs and woes, all of the amazing projects hubby has been working on, my vegan choices and all of the fun snacks I’ve found over the years, my coastal-farmhouse decor style…and see what happens!

If you’ve stuck with me this long, thank you. I hope you’ll stay around for a while…let’s see what we can build & snack on together ❤

EDIT: I wrote this back on 10/18/2020, on my first domain, when our name was Build & Snack … just a little fyi 😊
