I have been in the business of doing my own nails since I was in elementary school…manyyy moons ago ๐Ÿ™‚ I went from sticker kits and scented polish, to getting ‘tips’ put on in the nail salon. I have destroyed my nails and brought them back to life using the Nail Tek Recovery Kit. I did my own acrylic nails for years, then switched to the very popular KISS Nail Kits until I finally realized that my own nails were in pretty good shape! So I started to take care of, and paint my own!! I became so ‘addicted’ to perfecting my own manicure, that I was painting them every other day (okay, okay… sometimes, daily). My point is, I’ve become somewhat of a nail aficionado and tried out hundreds of bottles along the way!

When I stumbled upon an ad for Olive & June, I was intrigued by their simple and clean style as well as their story. A popular L.A. nail salon owner who realized that creating a manicure kit for customers to do their own nails at home was…GENIUS!! She was spot on. You can shop their kits on their website and buy individual products at Target – SO convenient!! All of my favorites are linked below as well as my tried-and-true tips to get your PERFECT at home manicure!

The Olive & June Complete Manicure System was my first introduction to the brand, and I can whole-heartedly say it’s one of my favorite purchases!! It comes with TONS of goodies that allow you to give yourself the perfect manicure (disclaimer: now you might not get it perfect the first time ๐Ÿ™‚ but with practice you certainly can!!!)

The first step of any good manicure is to clip, file and buff your nails. Work in one direction is the ideal way to file, so that you don’t weaken the nail fibers too much. A little bit of buffering to finish it off will help smooth everything out so the polish can glide on seamlessly!!

Next, you’ll want to grab your favorite color and “pop” the Olive & June Poppy onto the top! (You can easily remove the white cap to reveal the smaller cap underneath, which you can add the Poppy right on top of!) and paint 2-3 LIGHT coats on…if you paint them too thick, they’ll never dry and you’ll end up re-doing too quickly (although, if you’re like me, you get bored of your color quickly anyway ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Here are some of my Favs!!

Once your color has had around 10 minutes to dry (ideally 10 minutes in between each coat), it’s time to apply the top coat!! I absolutely LOVE Olive & June’s Top Coat!! (I was previously a fan of Essie Gel Couture Platinum Grade Finish Top Coat). Give that a few more minutes and add a drop of the Olive & June Dry Drops. They will have your nails dry to the touch in less than 2 minutes, and actually dry within 30! Can you imagine!! Doing your nails at home, and not having to worry about smudging them!!

For the final touch, you can clean up any nail polish that might have gotten on your skin with the Olive & June Nail Grooming Clean Up Brush and complete the look by applying the Olive & June Cuticle Serum for that perfect, glossy look!!

I could not be happier with my Olive & June experience…their products speak for themselves and have made me a loyal customer!!!
