I love the idea of having a chalkboard in the kitchen. Every time I see a picture of one on Pinterest, I want to jump into DIY mode and add one to my own kitchen!! I can just imagine all of the menus and lists I would be able to put on it, using all of the cutest chalkboard fonts. Finding the space in which to put one is the only problem.
I was making my coffee and staring at my fridge the other day, and it hit me. I could add one to the fridge!! We have one of those door-in-door, side-by-side style refrigerators; the perfect canvas for my chalkboard idea.
Off I “went” to Amazon to see if I could find something to accomplish this with, and sure enough I stumbled upon this Black Matte Chalkboard Vinyl Adhesive Roll!! It comes in a bunch of different sizes – with chalk! I picked up this colorful pack of Liquid Chalk Markers for Blackboards as well!!
The “installation” process couldn’t have been easier; all I needed was a pair of scissors!! I held the roll up to the fridge to figured out the size I needed for the chalkboard, and cut along the gridlines on the back!!
After I had it cut to size, I peeled about 6 inches of the paper backing away from the chalkboard side.
I lined up the vinyl, pressed the sticky side onto the fridge and slowly peeled the paper away. I found that using my hand to smooth out the bubbles was efficient enough!!
Voila!!! I had myself a chalkboard on my fridge!! I love the way it compliments the black oven next to it! Let me know what you think about this DIY and if you’re going to try it out yourself!!
