How to build a corner table with a sliding barn door…

There are so many projects that I will be adding to the site, but I’m going to start with the latest one and work my way back…
Our dining room has been finished for a few months now (quarantine project, complete DIY), but was missing something…enter in the Corner Table idea!! So many ideas…

We had a placeholder bookshelf sitting in the corner for a while, but it was the wrong color and just…wrong. (So wrong, I don’t actually have any full size pictures of it sitting there…oh well)

So, while in the middle of another project, I ask hubby if he can make a corner table for the dining room. He rolls his eyes, as I request yet another “thing for him to make”, but went straight to work. Because this was a corner design it was a bit more difficult; working with angles is no easy feat…but here we are!! The table now happily placed in its new home ๐Ÿ™‚ I mean, come on now, is there really any comparison to the bookshelf?
Scroll down for more info on the build and the finished product in the dining room!!!

All of the wood was purchased from Lowes and cut at home. Most of the designs he works off of are completely “drawn up” in his mind (and there they stay – until now!!).

My plan for these posts is to give you the background story, as well as photos of all of the pieces. I’ll be posting the materials and hardware he used, but writing up the actual plan on the DIY Plans page! At the bottom of each post I will have a button that will take you directly to the Plans!

  • The frame of the table was built out of 2x4s.
  • The front panel has 2 larger pieces on the left and right sides, 2x8s.
  • The top of the table is made from (1) 2x6x10, cut into 4 pieces to make the triangle shape.
  • The shelves were framed with 2x2s and the floor is sanded plywood.
  • The Sliding Bard Door is made out of 1/2 in plywood, framed with 2x2s. The hardware is from on Amazon!!
  • The stain on this one is Minwax Classic Gray (all of our dining room furniture has been stained with this, except the chairs)

And the finished product…(drumroll, please)

Looks pretty damn good, if I do say so myself (which I do ๐Ÿ™‚ )

So let me know what you think!! Have any tips or suggestions…we’re happy to hear it – comment below!!
