How to Dress-up an Every Day Wreath – DIY Project

One of my favorite things about our new pantry doors is that they are the perfect place to hang a decorative wreath – (one more thing I can decorate all year long!) It’s so much fun to pick something out for every season, giving a fresh and festive feel to the room! When the snow started to melt, I decided it was time to add in something – springy!! I have 3 doors to “dress up” and I knew I didn’t want to be spending a ton of money on this – So I decided to DIY one instead!!

I ended up buying all of my goods from Joanne Fabrics, which I unfortunately cannot link through my LiketoKnow. It, but I found alternatives that I would have just as easily bought had I shopped on Michael’s first!! If you’re looking to make an exact replica of what you see below, you should be able to find the items for yourself!!

I started with a plain wreath for my base – I am including this link here, because I couldn’t find anything that was similar in price – you can’t beat this one!! This is the Bloom Room Mini Dusty Miller Wreath. I went for shades of blue and white for the flowers, because that is the theme of my home (and our kitchen island is navy blue – these shades of blue are the PERFECT compliment!)

I spread out all of the flowers I wanted to use, and then separated them based on how many I wanted each wreath to have:

  • (x2) Blue Berry Bundle by Ashland
    • Peel off ~5 stems and use the wired end to either weave through the base of the wreath or wrap around (depending on the length of the stem). I used my CUTCO Super Shears to help cut through the wire. They are worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY. and they have a lifetime warranty!
  • (x2) Dark Blue Berry Bush by Ashland
    • Peel off ~6 stems and use the wired end to either weave through the base of the wreath or wrap around (depending on the length of the stem)
  • (x3) White Snap Dragon Bush by Ashland
    • Peel off ~4 stems and use the wired end to either weave through the base of the wreath or wrap around (depending on the length of the stem)

To do this to all 3 wreaths took about 30 minutes in total, and cost around $30 (yes, for ALL THREE). The time and effort was well worth it in my opinion!! I’m loving the way these turned out. See the before (left) and after (right) pictures below!!

So if you’re looking to add a little pop of color to your home to beat the ‘end of winter blues’, try making your own wreath!! Not only will it add some style to your home, but there is something so much more satisfying about it, when you have created it yourself!!

I also LOVE how this looks with my new Farmers Market Sign from Kirkland’s! Let me know if you try this out and what you think in the comments below!!!
