I’m a mom of 2.
I work an 8-5 office job, from home, with the 2 kids.
I help my husband with our small, furniture/home decor business, while working the 8-5 job, with the 2 kids, at home.
I bet there are many people out there who, in some capacity, can relate. There is a lot of ‘stuff’ to remember, and only so much brain power to do it with. It’s easy to forget a meeting, an appointment, a practice, a game, a phone call…and don’t get me wrong, I have all of the apps, and calendars on my phone.
But sometimes I just want to write things down and cross them off. It feels good – I can actually feel myself marking the accomplishment as complete. There has always been something about about writing on a chalkboard, maybe it’s the little kid in me who wanted to be a teacher. Maybe it’s the feeling of that really smooth piece of chalk on the board. Maybe it’s the airy-ness of the look of it all. Whatever it is, there is just something satisfying about it.
So, we did a thing. We made a giant, life-sized calendar out of chalkboard paint right on our office wall. I could not be happier!! So if this is right up your alley, you’ve come to the right place!!
We started with FROGTAPE to create our outline, and smaller boxes. We taped off the area using the measurements below.
- Calendar Total Size: 76 in. L x 59 in. H
- Individual Box Size: 10 in. L X 11 in. H
- Space between Boxes: 1 in. (the size of the tape)
We then used Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Paint, in Black with a paint roller (you can get a kit with everything you need like this 12 pc. Interior Painting Kit from Walmart!!) to paint the entire area!! (We ended up doing 2 coats, but I think it depends a lot on how heavy you went with your first coat – you might only need one!!)
After 24 hours, we peeled off the tape, and voila!!! A hand-painted chalkboard calendar of our very own. SUPER easy project with great, and FUN results!!!
Let us know if you give it a try, and how it turns out!!!
